FAQ's

In response to some great questions we've been asked we're providing as many answers as possible. If your question is not found or answered here, please do not hesitate to contact us.

MIGRATION PROCESS

Q. How is the Migration process going to work?

A. The actual migration will be a 3 step process:

1. Migration Window - A day or two prior to the Migration we will disable access to the Zone Record management system and set a maintenance window where new domain registrations and domain name transfer requests would be sent to a queue for manual processing. This is to ensure that new orders coming in will get counted for the move.

2. We will copy all DNS zone records for domains using WSMDomains DNS Management as well as those customers using our Registrars Alternate DNS Service to the new DNS platform. Only domains actively pointing to these name servers will then be updated to the name servers for the new system.

3. All domains will be migrated to the new Registration Platform and login details will be sent to the profile owners.

Q. How long will this all take?

A. That's a good question. We'll be able to determine that more accurately after our beta test but we're expecting 3 to 4 days from maintenance window to completion.

Q. What's going to happen to my domain profiles?

A. Domains will be migrated based on their existing profiles. If you have one profile or ten, you'll have the same number of profiles in the new system. The master profile contact can be changed in the new control panel after the move.

Q. What if I don't get my new login details because my email address is bad?

A. We can send login details to a new address however you would need to be able to verify your account by providing your old username and password or with phone number verification. Now is a good time to make sure you know your login and password and confirm you have valid contact information.

LOGINS AND PASSWORDS

Q. Can I keep my same login and password?

A. Current profile usernames will typically stay the same however new passwords will automatically be generated during the migration. If you have multiple profiles containing the same username, usernames will change to user1, user2, etc. You can merge these accounts together in the new system. You can also change passwords in the new system.

Q. Why are the login details and profiles based on the Organization contact and not the Administrative contact?

A.Our Registrar Tucows has it set this way for registrant security and we cannot change the migration process. We can easily help you adjust profiles once the migration is complete. We advise keeping Organization contact email addresses the same as the Administrative Contact email addresses prior to the migration to help ensure you receive your new profile information.

Q. Why is my password being changed?

A. Our registrar has set this up for security, as we're moving profiles from one registration platform to another.

CREDIT CARDS

Q. I have a credit card on file, will my card be stored in the new control panel?

A. No. Current credit card information will not be migrated to the new sysystem. Once you receive your new login credentials you will want to to re-save a credit card to your account. If you will be using our automatic renewal feature you will specify a card as default.

Q. Can I add and remove cards at will?

A. Yes, you can add multiple cards and nickname them. You'll specify one as default for use with automatic renewals. You can remove credit cards at any time. Of course you'll want to keep one if you want the automatic renewals to work.

PRICING

Q. Is the pricing staying the same or change?

A. 15.00 will still be the price for com/net/info/biz/org for one year registrations. However we will have improved pricing tiers and most of the Country Code domains will have lower prices. Transfers will be 10.00 for most standard TLD's. We'll be able to provide more info later about pricing specifics.

Q. I have a discount code, can I use it in the new control panel?

A. Unfortunately no, any current discount/promo codes cannot be used in the new control panel. However we will have various discounts and promotions available. When you add a domain to your cart you will see the price for each year and will display the savings rate available for that day based on the number of years available to register.

AUTOMATIC RENEWALS

Q. I have automatic renewal set up for some of my domains right now, will that still be set?

A. No. In order to move to the new system we must set all domains to the default manual renewal option. However in the new control panel you can easily enable any or all of your domains for automatic renewal and set and save a default credit card for processing.

Q. What happens if my card is expired for a domain marked for automatic renewal?

A. A notice will display in the control panel stating the card on file is expired. You will also receive an email approximately 30 days prior to the scheduled renewal that the card on file needs to be updated. If you do not update an expired or invalid card your domain will not be automatically renewed.

Q. Will I receive domain renewal reminders for domains marked for automatic renewal?

A. Nope, you will not receive regularly scheduled domain renewal reminders. You will receive an email after your domain has been renewed as confirmation. If you get sick of all the 90/60/30/5 day renewal reminders we send, this is a good option for you.

CONTROL PANEL QUESTIONS

Q. Will we still have bulk tools available in the control panel?

A. Yes, you will be able to modify contacts, name servers and Whois Privacy in Bulk. You will also be able to modify existing Domain Forwards in bulk. Initial set up for forwarding must be done on a per-domain basis.

Q. How will Domain Forwarding work?

A. Domain forwards can be set up in the control panel after a domain is registered. There will be two steps for initial setup. You will set the forward and you will click a link to use our DNS service so that the forwards will take effect.

Q. Will you have the Under Construction and For Sale pages back?

A. There will not be default options in the control panel for under construction and sale pages like our original parking program. We think we'll be able to set up an under construction page (the old little construction crane guy) that you could mask-forward your domain to.

Q. What can we do in the old control panel that we will not be able to do in the new control panel?

A. You will no longer be able to unlock your domains in bulk. Unlocking will be done on a per-domain basis. You will also need to unlock the domain in order to access the domain authorization code. Our Registrar has this set up as an extra precaution to help prevent unwanted transfers.

Q. Can we still move and merge domain profiles?

A. Yes, and it will be easier. You will only need to specify profile account usernames and passwords to move and merge accounts.

EMAIL FORWARDING

Q. How do I order and what is the cost?

A. You will be able to order a 10 pack of email forwards per domain during the order process and any time within your account. Email forwarding 10 packs will cost 5.00 per domain term. If you order a domain for 1 year, email forwarding will cost 5.00 for 1 year. If you order a domain for 2 or more years, your email forwarding will cost 5.00 for two years or however many you order. This means each year would be 2.50 for a two year term. Your email forwarding term will always be synced to match your domain expiration. When it comes time to renew your domain you can choose to renew your email forwarding service. The more years you register your domain the cheaper the cost for email forwarding service. You will not receive separeate reminders for your email forwarding service because it is synced with your domain expiry date.

Q. If I order Email Forwarding and cancel, can I get a refund?

A. No. There are no refunds for email forwarding service. It is for this reason that we have set the price to 5.00 regardless of how many years you order or renew your domain name.

Q. If I order email forwarding how do I set it up and use it?

A. Once ordered you will be able to go to your email forwarding section and enter in the username you would like and the email address to forward to. You can create up to 10 forwards and you can change them at any time. Within an hour they will be ready for use. Any mail sent to your email forwarding address will simply be redirected to the email address you specified. It is up to you to set your reply-to address as your email forward if your email program if your mail service provider supports it.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q. Will I still receive domain renewal reminders for my domains?

A. Yep, you will still receive a renewal reminders if your domains are not set to automatically renew however they will look a little bit different. They'll go out in the same time frame: 90, 60, 30, 5, 10 days after. For domains set to automatically renew, no reminders are sent, just a renewal confirmation once the system renews the domain.

Q. Can we see a preview or a demo of the new control panel?

A. If you sign up and get selected for beta-testing, yes. Otherwise we hope to be able to have some previews or demo's but we're not sure about those details yet.

Q. Will you have .XXX in the new control panel?

A. We're still waiting for information from our Registrar to see if this new TLD will be supported in the new system and if so, when.

What Customers Need to Prepare

  • Do you know your login username and password?
  • Is your domain contact information valid? Look at your domain renewal list; take note of what domains you have listed.
  • Are all your domains in one account together? We'll be moving domains based on existing profiles. Important: We'll be assigning NEW passwords to your profiles. You'll be able to change your password in the new system after our migration, however, if your email is outdated you won't get that email containing your new password. It is also important to know that profiles will also be based on the ORGANIZATION contact email address. For the smoothest transition, we recommend that you keep ONE email address listed for all the ORGANIZATION contacts for each domain within the same account. We can help you check and update them.
